How the Adoption Process Works
Becoming a Pet Guardian
We currently have no pets available for adoption.
Due to the fact that New Mexico has the *highest rate of pet abandonment in America, we intake/adopt only those pets PREVIOUSLY adopted from AnimalVillageNM. If you've seen a post on our social media pages about a returned pet now available for lifetime adoption, please follow the instructions on our adoption application page on this site.
1. Fill Our Your Adoption Application
After you have filled out your application at the link below, let us know at animalvillagenm1@gmail.com. You may also deliver in person by appointment or mail to AnimalVillageNM 7246 Hwy. 54-70 Alamogordo, NM 88310. Applications can also be faxed to 575-562-7200.

Once your application is approved you will be contacted to conduct an at-home visit. After the visit has been cleared, we will schedule an appointment for you to come to our shelter and meet the pets in whom you are interested.
2. Complete the Application Fee
Using the ‘Donate’ button, submit your non-refundable application fee of $25.00.
If your adoption application is approved, the fee is applied toward the posted adoption fee. If your application is not approved due to inaccurate, unverifiable, or other reasons that indicate our pet would not be safe in adopter's care, the fee is considered a donation, and a donation acknowledgment is sent for tax purposes.
